Cydonia Caves is tucked away in the picturesque village of Megalochori in Santorini. Found in the main square of the village, “Potamos”, it allows visitors to experience living in an authentic traditional Santorini village while being a short drive from the island’s center, Thira, and various beaches.
Cydonia caves has evolved from a 200-year-old historical house used originally as a residence and winery “canava” into an authentic, cycladic-styled boutique accommodation. Great effort was given to maintain the history and elegance of the house.
Dedicated to the needs of seasoned travelers, Cydonia Caves has in total a combination of five caves and rooms. Our caves maintain the traditional Cycladic architecture with; arched ceilings, indoor wooden shutters and the original “poria” – decorative stone masonry - around the doors and windows. Sharing two private yards, they offer a peaceful environment away from the crowds. Two caves come with access to a private terrace with magical views of the sea and the village, which are also equipped with hot tubs. There is also a possibility of sharing two caves as a family or two couples along with a private yard and a hot tub.
The name Cydonia Caves comes from the tree, “Kυδωνιά” – pronounced ‘Ky-do-nia’, which was planted in our yard many years ago from our ancestors, where family photos have been taken over the years.
A magnificent and typical setting in the heart of a charming, very calm and bucolic Greek village (geographically very well located to discover the Island), the room is great with modern and very neat decoration in perfect harmony with the site, the services are really high qualities and allow you to fully enjoy. We were extremely well received, very warmly received. Our contact on site listened to us daily, and gave us a lot of advice on how to enjoy the Island, she showed an empathy rarely seen, which allowed us to discover the treasures local. Thanks to her we were pampered, were able to take advantage of a truly personalized service (car rental, help in our research and reachable daily via cell phone and social network), she allowed us to have an even more pleasant stay, and we will keep wonderful memories of Cydonia and Santorini.
Even though I have been to many different places in the world and stayed at various hotels, very few times I could feel like being at home. I just came back from a trip to Santorini, where I stayed in a beautiful and cozy hotel called Cydonia caves. Even though I have been to many different places in the world and stayed at various hotels, very few times I could feel like being at home! I just came back from a trip to Santorini, where I stayed in a beautiful and cozy hotel called Cydonia caves. Besides the comfort, the service and the amazing location of the place, what touched me most was the energy of love and care that I could feel in every corner! I realized in this cozy space that comfort and luxury are excellent, but when given without love, it is something that feels cold and superficial. On the other hand, when you feel the love spread all over the place, then it becomes home!
The most beautiful hotel in Santorini. If you love to stay in a quiet, cosy village, it is the perfect spot for you. Dont miss to book a room with whirlpool and amazing view. Amazing, very very friendly owners and staff. The breakfast is very good and the freshly renovated rooms are very clean. We won‘t forget this amazing week. Thank you very much for this amazing experience. ♥️
Absolutely brilliant location. In the best traditional village of Santorini! Very relaxing and peaceful environment with extremely helpful staff! Friendly, clean & well equipped! It was a great choice since I wanted to spend a couple of days feeling the real, traditional vibe of the island! It is a small oasis of tranquility on an island that is most of the time flooded with tourists! Elegant, cozy, and amazing jacuzzi! If I decide to come back will definitely take this again.
Super happy with our stay here! The location is great in the middle of a traditional village next to a blue dome. There were many restaurants nearby, but still quiet. The hotel is brand new, the suite was stunning with very nice decoration. The staff was amazing and super helpful. A very warm welcome! They literally arranged everything for us! Really good breakfast! Relaxing at the private jacuzzi was the cherry on top!
Everything was perfect ! Irène was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The room is very well equipped: beach towels available, a small speaker to listen to music in the jacuzzi, sheets and towels that smell incredibly good, the hearty breakfast served directly at the table, etc. The rooms are decorated with care and taste. I have nothing to say except that I will return with great pleasure. Megalochori is a nice little town, quiet, and close to Fira and Perissa I highly recommend!
Amazing accommodation in a brilliant traditional village location with walking distance to several bars, restaurants, shops and even a wine tasting venue. The staff were attentive, helpful, courteous literally couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast was superb each and every day. Just wonderful and would highly recommend!
The place is truly magical, everything is beautiful, the service and comfort at the top, and Irene’s welcome and advice really great. Nothing to say, I recommend with eyes closed!
We had a very pleasant stay! The welcome from our host was very warm! She told us about the different sites to visit. The room and bedding were very comfortable! The perfect breakfast service I recommend !!!
